Design Lab project with V & A Museum begins
In June, a selection of Queensbridge Design and Technology students visited the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London as part of the Design Lab: Futures project. The Curator of 'The Future Starts Here' exhibition met with students and discussed the themes and ideas behind the exhibition, students then had the opportunity to explore the interactive exhibition. Students used inspiration from the exhibition along with future forecasting techniques to create their own design brief in a workshop with the V&A staff and PhD students from the Royal College of Art. Students created design briefs linked to future technologies such as 'How can we use artificial intelligence to transform and assist lifestyle in the home?'. Students responded to the briefs by working in small groups to create models and prototypes which were presented back to the group. The next phase of the project will be for the students to further develop their ideas and prototypes back in school with support from subject teachers and the V&A staff. Their projects and prototypes will then be formally presented at the V&A museum in July.
